Yoga
This form of exercise is still growing in popularity. There many forms of yoga and it can be adapted to all fitness levels. Usually this is not an aerobic exercise; it has flexibility and strength training components.

Yoga has many other benefits and studies have shown that because of its relaxation approach, it helps to keep weight off after 50. If you have stress like most people yoga can be great for you. If you are trying to lose weight, you need to add an aerobic exercise three or more times a week.

Step aerobics
They have been there forever since they are effective. Step aerobics burn more calories than the same exercises without the step. There are many classes and videos of this popular form of exercise for all fitness levels.

If you have bad knees this may not be the best workout for you though.

Budokon
This workout comes directly from Hollywood. It is said that Courtney Cox and Jennifer Anniston practice Budokon. There are few classes of Budokon available and a very few videos.

It is a mix of martial arts and yoga. It is demanding but it can be tailored to any fitness level. You need to add more cardio training if you do Budokon.

Tai Chi
This is a form of meditation. It is better than not working out but it is a very gentle form of exercise.

Martial arts
These are great ways to workout. They develop muscle, stamina and mental focus. They are demanding, challenging but very rewarding. They can be expensive since you need to work with a trainer.

Swimming and water exercises
Theses exercises are gentle, fun and effective. They are a great alternative to regular workout programs for people who have some physical conditions or who tend to abandon the fitness programs.
