Eating out of the house is nice but can lead to weight gain if not done without thinking. There are many reasons for this, but it can be avoided. These are some of the dangers of eating out if you are trying to eat healthier.  Continued below...

Use of hydrogenated fats like shortening and margarine. These fats are unhealthy and are common in fried foods because they are cheap and give the crunch to fried foods.

Excess fat
Fat adds flavor and texture. Be wary of plates with cheese, butter sauces, and of course, fried foods.

Excess salt
Which results in water retained by the body and leads to chronic illness and premature aging.

Using lower quality ingredients that are not good for health


Very large portions
This is the main reason it is easier to consume more calories while eating out. If you control the portion size you can eat almost everything you want, but when the dishes are full of cheese, fats and carbs it is very easy to overeat in both amount and calories.

Eating out and still not gain weight
Below are some tips to eat without gaining an ounce of weight:

1- Balance.
If you eat out try to eat healthy for the rest of the day

2- Selection.
Choose healthier options in restaurants if you eat out frequently

3- Avoid excess fat dishes, including fried foods, cheeses, salads with creamy dressings, etc.

4- Avoid commercial sausage products because they contains salts harmful to health. Some high quality or traditional sausages do not contain them

5- If you eat pizza or pasta, then also eat soup, salad or vegetables to consume fewer calories.

6- Avoid going to the restaurant if you are starving, because you will overeat.

7- Avoid drinks that contain lots of sugar, particularly sugary soft drinks and cocktails.

8- Do not eat desserts often. Have the desserts that you truly like but only on a special occasion.

9- Pass on the bread. Limit your bread, pasta and rice consumption to avoid hundreds of empty calories.

10- Avoid mayonnaise and other dressings that are high in fat.

11- Prefer protein rich dishes to carbs rich dishes.
