What do you really want?
Do you want to look better? If your answer is yes, then the following
list probably has some items that you may consider:
Better posture
Healthier weight
Better skin
Appropriate make up
More style
Poise.
Break you goals down to the small, doable steps because if you do not
do that, you may not get the results you want.
Invest in you. Do your own makeover
You can do your own makeover. You do not need to wait for an invitation from a TV program. If you want only to lose weight, there are many
ways to do it.
If you want to look better. Look at yourself in the mirror and see
what do you think you want:
Is your posture a problem? What about clothing
and style, a new haircut perhaps, new make up, better skin care, too
much stress, your nails need manicures, your feet need pedicures, you
need more energy, more joy, etc. This list can go on and on and on, but
if you break it down, you can prioritize and do first what is easier.
Fast Transformations
Your hair cut, your make up and your clothes are probably the easiest
to change. Before you go to the salon though, think first of what you
want. Think of the celebrities you like and their styles. You may not
look like them, their style is what you are looking for and anything
can be adapted to other shapes. Once you have some pictures on hand,
think of the time you have to fix your hair every day. Make an appointment for a hair cut in a good salon and be clear and specific to your
hairdresser. It is actually a good idea to bring photos of styles that you
like and show it to your hairdresser. S/he may be able to reproduce
that style or make slight modifications to it to better suit your personality.
Do not stop here though. Take a make-up lesson. Nothing will change you
as much as makeup. In the beginning you may not like the makeup on
you, but generally speaking, you will love it after. Learn how to apply
your make up correctly.
Stand up pretty: Be Bonita
Few things will make a bigger change on your appearance as standing up
tall. Good posture is what identifies a confident person. If you are
not confident, fake it, as my boss used to say, “Fake it and fake it
until you make it.” Have you heard that a person who lies ends up
believing his or her own lies; the same happens with your own image. The best
way to improve your posture is practice (read more on how to improve
your posture). In the beginning it will feel awkward, but as you get
used to it, it will became natural and you will not only look better, you
will be healthier.
Style
Someone once said, “You cannot buy style” but that person did not mean
that you can not buy time from a stylist. This new profession is very
popular in Hollywood. As the celebrities become more and more icons of
fashion, they want to look good all the time, so they hire experts to
help them select their clothes.
Personally, I believe in individualism and not copying styles, but
while we learn, we can easily borrow some ideas. If you do not have the
bucks to hire a stylist, just select a look you like in a magazine and
use that as a guide to put together your outfits.
Do you like Catherine
Zeta Jones style? Well, pay attention to her style: type of clothes she
wears: well-fitted, body hugging, and sexy but never over-the-top. Next time you go shopping, remember that and always try the clothes you
buy and remember it has to fit you; if it does not fit, bring to a
tailor.
Style is an extensive topic, but reading fashion magazines and being diligent about your image, you can change it if you want to.
Develop you list of flaws, see what you would like to correct and do something about it. You do not have to be perfect, but you can definitely accentuate your assets and be happy. Nothing in the world is worthy is you are not happy.
