What is a bra size?
A bra has a cup size and a band size. Both of these have to fit right.
The cup is a measured with letter AA, A, B, C, D, DD and so on. The bigger is the cup, the bigger the breast size.
The band size is more or less the size of your torso at the low point of your breast. The skinnier you are, the smaller it will be. The smallest, most common size is 32, but there is a size 30 as well, and in Asia, there are even smaller sizes.
How to find the right bra size for you
The experts interviewed by Oprah recommended that you should be measured at a bra boutique or a department store such as Nordstrom. Here are some general recommendations:
1- Measure your torso right under the breast line, the ribcage.
Add 5 inches to the measurement - this is more or less your standard band size. This will give you an approximation to try on bras, but it
is only a starting point.
2- Cup Size
Even thought there are formulas to find your right cup size, according to our research, they do not work very well. You should,
therefore, if possible, go to be measured at a store such as Neiman Marcus or
Nordstrom or read the next paragraph. But in some those shops
they have trained personnel and this is a free service. They can measure you and suggest sizes and styles but only you can judge if the bra feels right for you.
