Bathroom Accessories

--

There is a very old saying among interior decorators "Your bathroom is a room too!" The point is that you need to take as much care of your bathroom as you do for other rooms in the house.  Continues below

The reason is simple: for the duration of your stay in the bathroom, it is your personal space.

Many people often cite the bathroom as the place where they got an idea or were able to make up their mind about something. When you are all by yourself and can be with yourself without any distractions, you can truly focus on what is important.

How to complete a bathroom decoration project?

The first thing to do when beginning a project like this is to start with a clean slate. Or in other words, either take out everything that you have inside the bathroom, or if you want to first think about it clearly, take a yellow pad and start to play with a few scenarios on what should stay and what should go out.

In any average home, it is rare that you design and furnish anything at once. Most of us never seem to have that kind of resources. So what do we do? We start small and first make it functional. And then we add little by little. This is probably the best approach for average folks like us but there is one serious problem with it. Later on we end up buying stuff that we like but may not necessarily match what is already in
the bathroom. The result: a lot of mismatched items and that is when it seems that nothing belongs in the bathroom. So this is a great time to take stock of what you have and what really belongs together.

Now let us admit it - we hate to throw things that we bought with so much passion. Without realizing it, there is a lot of emotion involved in buying anything, even if it was an impulse purchase. But unless you are a minimalist, you will often realize that you end up with things that you never really used and have no intention of using it ever. However, you are reluctant to give it away or throw it because you look at the
money spent and just hang on to it hoping to use it some day.

A rule of thumb for things in the bathroom - if you have not used it for three months, it is time to dispose it. If new and usable, consider giving it away to a charity or sell it in a tag sale or just pass it on to someone else who might use it.

Then comes the time to take a look at all your bathroom accessories. Do they coordinate with each other? Do you like their look, feel, and functionality? How about replacing the faucets or the mirrors or the showerhead? Even doorknobs and drawer knobs can make a huge difference in how your bathroom looks.

Does your bathroom have any other accessories such as magnifying mirror, hair dryer, foot spa, etc.? You might want to add some of these accessories.

Finally, take everything out of the bathroom, and as per the plan developed above, restock it. Depending on the condition of your bathroom you might want to either repaint it or clean it thoroughly.
