Donna Karan Iris

The newest addition to the Donna Karan line of fragrances is Iris. This is an exquisite, feminine perfume that combines the aromas of iris, violet, magnolia, rose de mai and vetiver.

I am very exited about the Iris perfume, because it has some expensive and seductive extracts. I find the smell romantic and feminine, very subtle and elegant.

The iris extracts are rare and unique. To extract the fragrance from this delicate flower is not easy. The process involves collecting the roots of matures irises, washing and peeling them and then they are left to dry for many years. The result is the Orris butter and iris absolute. The process is artisanal and long.

The perfumes will be available in March at Bergdorf Goodman in New York, Donna Karan boutiques and some Neiman Marcus stores. The cost of the 3.4 ounces bottle is $95.00

Dianoche Passion by Daisy Fuentes

Daisy Fuentes has a new fragrance: Dianoche Passion. The perfume comes in Daisy’s signature fragrance bottle: a single bottle that holds two different scents: one for day and one for night (Dianoche is a combination of Spanish words for day and night).

The perfume has warm and sensual notes that are deeper and sultrier for the night fragrance. In both the day and night fragrances, the key ingredients of patchouli and amber bring to life the essence of true passion (both of them are believed to be aphrodisiacs).

I love the idea of two perfumes in one bottle. Both fragrances are very nice and, as described in the press release, warm and sensual.

Dianoche Passion will be available just in time for Valentine’s Day, February 2010, at Kohl’s Department Stores nationwide and at Kohls.com for a retail price of $42.50.

DKNY Delicious Candy Apples ad

A few weeks ago I wrote about the new fragrances from DKNY: Delicious Candy Apples. Recently I saw this video and I thought it was really cute. I hope you enjoy it. I fell like eating candies now; not good for my skin though.

DKNY Delicious Candy Apples fragrances

DKNY will launch three new fragrances in a limited edition collection. It
is an extension of the popular DKNY Be Delicious.

The packaging is fun and cute, apple-shaped bottles with an old-fashioned
stick. All the fragrances are fresh, soft and unique. The collection
includes: Sweet Caramel (in green), Ripe Raspberry (in red) and Juicy Berry
(in purple).

The top notes or the initial aromas you will smell are sweet, but as the
other notes reach your nose the fragrances become fresh and fruity.

Juicy Berry
This was my favorite. According to the company, “Have a feast with
plump little black currants and fat juicy blackberries. Fleshy pears and
luscious lychee add to the mouth watering mélange. A fruity cocktail of
nectar flows over velvety soft rose petals and deliciously delicate apple
blossom. The fragrance finishes with a creamy layer of scrumptious
sandalwood and sugary blonde woods. Juicy Berry is very berry, very DKNY.”

Ripe Raspberry
Ripe luscious raspberries trickle a sweet glaze over crisp crunchy apples
and effervescent lime. Their yummy juices are cushioned by fluffy peonies
and sweet lilies before bursting with fragrant fizziness from a delicious
cola accord. Simply red, simply yummy.

Sweet Caramel
A whimsical candied fusion drizzles with luscious fruits, delicious flowers
and mouth watering edibles. It has candy apple, pear, marshmallow, decadent
jasmine petals, delicate muguet, violet leaves, caramel and vanilla.

The limited edition Delicious Candy Apples Collection will be available in
Sephora and DKNY.com beginning in January 2010, and retails for $55.00 each.

Dior Insider Auctions

I finally signed up for the Dior insider auctions. I think this is a very cool idea, basically you are registered at Dior and then you can participate in auctions for special packages such as:

Cherie Diva.
2 round trip business class tickets to Paris
2 night of at a very expensive hotel
Lunch at Laduree (my favorite patisserie in Paris)
An afternoon tour of Paris and a visit to the Dior offices
Dinner at an expensive restaurant
A surprise gift

The current bid for this package is more than $4000; it is approaching the cost of the activities, but the funds will go to a charity and the whole experience as described on the website is priceless. There are many other auctions, this is one of the most expensive ones. I think it is a cool idea because the packages are special, granted they are expensive, but perhaps a good gift for a special occasion.

I am not planning to participate in any auction right now, but I will keep an eye for the right package.

Jennifer Lopez new Glow

Jennifer Lopez has added a new perfume to her fragrance line. The floral new fragrance is called My Glow. Jennifer’s previous fragrances are: Miami Glow, Love at First Glow, Glow After Dark, Glow Shimmer and Sunkissed Glow. The original Glow fragrance has been the most successful and it is one of my favorites.

Jennifer said that the new perfume is inspired on her new role as a mother. The promotional materials reflect this inspiration. The bottle has an angle, because she thinks that “every baby is an angel.”

Jennifer’s new perfume will be out in October in two sizes. Some people with dirty thoughts said that the bottle looks similar to the classical fragrance “L’Air Du Temps.” They both have an angel, but I am not sure if they are “very” similar.

Happy birthday Chanel No. 5

Today in 1921 Coco Chanel launched her famous fragrance, Chanel No. 5. The fifth day of the fifth month.

There are many theories for the name. Some said that Chanel considered 5 to be her lucky number, others that this was the 5 fragrance she tried and selected it for her first perfume. In any case Chanel No. 5 continues to be an iconic fragrance like no other.

In the beginning it was an exclusive fragrance sold only to her clients. At a time when perfumes were mainly single notes (only one aroma) Chanel wanted something complex for her fragrance, a mix of aromas.

One of my favorite perfumes is Babydoll by YSL. Browsing their website, I found that they have a limited edition of the miniature versions of the perfume. I love fragrance bottles and I found this miniature irresistible.
