Heidi Klum will be a designer

The gorgeous supermodel, TV star, and entrepreneur Heidi Klum will be a designer. She has teamed up with a company to create a lifestyle collection for the coming seasons.

Accordingly to WWD, “The yet-to-be-named line is set to launch for fall 2010 with a selection of footwear.” Later on the line will extend to include active wear, dresses and swimwear. Heidi also wants to include maternity clothing.

I wish Heidi success in her fashion line. She says, “In fashion one day you are in and the next you are out.” I hope she will be in, but I wonder: Is every celebrity going to have a fashion line?

The Olsen sisters’ empire keeps growing. The sisters will have a new line for juniors in J.C. Penney Co. Inc. called Olsenboye. JC Penney has an aggressive and interesting marketing campaign to launch the brand.

Ralph Lauren wants skinnier models

According to Shine (the yahoo site) Ralph Lauren has fired model Filippa Hamilton for being too fat. After the controversial photo where she looks weird with a head bigger than her hips, RL apologized, but after that they fired Filippa.

Filippa weights 120 pounds, at 5’10 she is underweight with a BMI of 17. She needs to gain another 9 pounds to have normal weight. I always thought that she looked beautiful in pictures and in previous RL ads. If she is fat, how do we call women with normal weight?

Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman

Since Jennifer Lopez started to wear Marchesa I fell in love with the line. Marchesa, as you may know was co-founded by Georgina Chapman and her friend Keren Craig back in 2004. In such a short time the line has become a symbol of elegance and grandeur.

While I love Marchesa’s designs it is difficult for me to imagine where a normal person can wear them. The dresses are ideal for the red carpet or for a Hollywood diva. Georgina studied costume design, and her training is reflected in her dresses.

I am also fascinated with Georgina herself. She is like a modern-day princess, she was born in a rich family in London, and during her college years she modeled and acted in movies. Eventually she co-founded the line and in no time became a respectable and rich designer. Georgina is beautiful, she has striking high cheeks and very fine bones making her look very slim.

Every princess needs a prince. Her prince is not precisely handsome, but he is very talented, successful and very rich. He is Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein. Their wedding was a fairytale event in the beautiful town of Westport, Ct. The guest list included the likes of Rupert Murdocch and Jennifer Lopez.

Georgina and Harvey have three residences, a divine town-home in the West Village in NYC, a waterfront mansion in Westport, Ct and another one in Hollywood. What a charming life, gorgeous, talented, smart and lucky in love.

The pictures are from Bazaar Magazine. They show Georgina’s dressing room in Manhattan. In the article she shares some of her style “secrets;” these are some of them:

She likes 60s vintage
She likes unique pieces
She loves high heels
She loves anything that sparkles
She told Bazaar “I'm obsessed with John Galliano, and Alexander McQueen is a gee-nee-us," "I like to wear a vintage dress with a Topshop biker jacket and high-heel boots. Or a pair of jeans with a Pucci blouse, or a Chanel jacket and a T-shirt. I like Acne or 7 for All Mankind jeans the best. For T-shirts, I love James Perse." In other words the girl knows how to mix expensive (extravagantly expensive) and not so expensive to create her looks.

Long hair at any age?

I am tired to read and hear that after 40+ women should not:
1- wear mini skirts (please someone go and tell Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani,
Halle Berry and all the rest).

2- Do not let your hair grow long. Oh really. I love how it looks on Demi Moore, Salma Hayek and so many more.

There are a lot of myths about age. At what age we are old is a matter of perception. Middle age or being called elderly varies by country. In Latin America a woman becomes "older" or "mature" after 30 and in Japan after 25.

There is no limit to wearing long hair, or at least it should not be dictated by a rigid principle that no one knows how it was formed. I like how Frederick Fekkai puts it, "It depends on the age of the hair not the person."

There are people who cannot wear long hair at any age, because their hair is too thin, or their faces are too small, or their frame is too small and the hair will overwhelm them.

I personally like long hair and I think it is sexy and offers versatility. Like any thing else in life, long or short hair should be a matter of personal style and personal characteristics and not dictated by who knows who.

Emma Watson for Teen Vogue

Emma Watson is in the cover of the new Teen Vogue Magazine USA. She is not the little girl anymore. She has grown into a pretty teen.

I love the pictures and the selection of dresses for Emma, who said in the interview that her style is very English. I like the mix of sort of vintage inspired and modern almost Goth or modern rock like pieces.

I also like to see that there is fashion for teens that do not look to revealing. Perhaps the preppy Gossip Girl has inspired some of this.

Freida, Evangeline and L’Oreal

The newest spoke persons for L’Oreal Paris are the gorgeous Freida Pinto and Evangeline Lilly. Both girls are not only beautiful, but also charming and talented. They are also brunets and young.

I love the choice of these actresses for the faces of Loreal. As I can recall, there was speculation that Freida was going to work with Estee Lauder not Loreal. In any case bravo for her.

In her native India Freida was considered too skinny (yes there is such a place), not curvaceous enough to be a star. I love her choices for the red carpet.

Evangeline is lovely; she is so natural and looks down to earth. She has a spectacular, athletic figure. Good luck to both

Padma Lakshmi’s beauty secret

Padma has said in interviews the following: “My beauty philosophy: better underdone than overdone. I cleanse and dry my face and then slather on honey. The suction when pulling the fingers off your face helps remove impurities from your pores. I try and vary the foods I eat as much as possible. I cook at home a lot and eat simply and purely. I crave Indian food often and love lentils, rice and yogurt with vegetables. I try to stay away from fried food even though it’s my greatest vice.”

She has a great figure even though she is a cookbook author. It is probably her genes, but her food philosophy seems very healthy. I like the part “I try and vary the foods I eat as much as possible” this is important to get all necessary nutrients.

Michelle Obama Vogue India

I was pleasantly surprise to see that Vogue India had Michelle O. on the cover. Usually Vogue India’s covers are very different than the US version. I have not read the article, but it should be very similar to the one we had.

Many people did not have good comments about the picture used in the US Vogue cover, I personally like it, I did not like some of the pictures in the rest of the article. I hope Michael Obama inspires women in India as well as in all countries to study and be strong and independent.

Last night Oscars

The pictures shows my favorite dresses from yesterday’s ceremony. There were a lot of nice dresses. I like the fish (mermaid) dresses that were so popular yesterday and also the origami folds.

I like Angelina Jolie, but I thought that I have seen her dress that way too many times before, get creative girl. Among the people walking the red carpet my least favorite was my dear Beyonce (I am sorry I said this about you). Beyonce is beautiful and she looks great with most things, but I have two problems with this dress: the prints and the style on her, because since Dream Girls she has been wearing the same style to most events.

I wonder how many of us do the same? Get the same type of dresses all the time. It is easy to get on a rut. I am guilty of this to.

Michelle Obama in Vogue

The new cover of Vogue magazine features Michael Obama. According to Anna Wintour Michelle is not dressing as the typical first lady with boxy and uncomfortable suits. On the contrary Michelle is using colorful modern fashion.

I like to see Michelle Obama in the cover of Vogue, she is not a model or a celebrity nor super skinny and not an airhead. I also like the fact that Michelle probably will change the image of the nerdy not so pretty, not so fashionable girl you can be both an intellectual, accomplish and attractive, modern women.

According to Andre Leon, Vogue’s editor at large Michelle is tall, slim and athletic. You can see more on Michelle in Vogue’s website.

Bollywood is coming

Bollywood is the Hollywood of India. They produce more movies than Hollywood, their films are mostly musicals with elaborate choreographies. The most famous Indian actress is Aishwarya Ray and the most famous actor is her father-in-law Amitabha Bacham.

These are some pictures of the latest US tour. I love the fashions, the rich colors and esplendid designs. I have some Indian friends who wear similar clothes when we have parties.

Julia Roberts on Oprah

Julia Roberts was on the Oprah Winfrey Show the day before yesterday in her "Earth day show." It was very interesting to see a new face of Julia. An environmentally conscious Julia makes compost, uses reusable bags instead of plastic or paper bags, and tries to be responsible in almost everything.

Julia told Oprah that she does not use deodorant. It has never been her habit. It is not due to environmental reason, because there are many environmentally friendly and healthy options available.

I am like Julia, I almost never use deodorant. I do not see the reason and I prefer to wash the area is if I feel smelly. I do use deodorant sometimes, especially in warm weather. I live in the Northeast United States, so warm weather is not as common as I would like.

How to get a Hollywood body?

Whether we like it or not but it is a fact that most of our Hollywood celebrities are indeed beautiful and have bodies that are simply close to perfect. And trust me, it takes a lot of work to stay that way, even when you are blessed with a good body and you have great genes (plus help from makeup artists and cosmetic surgeons). If you don't believe me, just look at the celebs that stopped eating healthy or did not workout -- they lost their great bodies and while some Kirstie Alley did it, others couldn't.

I have written previously about how to get a Hollywood body in 6 weeks and wrote other articles based on Hollywood stars like recovering your body after pregnancy, yoga during pregnancy, and yoga on a daily basis.

Daisy Fuentes recently did a series of episodes on television revealing the secrets of the Hollywood stars and their fitness regimen.

American Music Awards red carpet photos

I enjoyed watching the American Music Awards (AMA) held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angles and like all other red carpet events the fashion was fun to watch. What struck me most was the fact that most celebs chose safe dresses and no one took a risk. I wonder if the criticism by the bloggers has anything to do with this conservative approach. In this slide show you will see photos of Alicia Keyes, Fergie, Snoop Dogg, Josh Groban, Celine Dion, Usher, Beyonce, Carrie Underwood, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Avril Lavigne, Queen Latifah, Ashanti, and Mary J. Blige.

Best celebrity legs

If you are a fan of Dancing With The Stars, you might recall that Stacy Keibler was famous as much for her dancing as for her long, beautiful legs. And as you can see in this slide-show, not only her but Regina King and Haylie Duff chose evening dresses that emphasize their legs. The message from this party held at the Conde Nast Host Movies Rock Kick Off - Inside held at St Vibianas Cathedral is that if you have any physical asset that makes you look good, use it. Whether it is your perky breasts or long legs or slim waist or luscious lips or dreamy eyes, show them.
