Julia Roberts on Oprah

Julia Roberts was on the Oprah Winfrey Show the day before yesterday in her "Earth day show." It was very interesting to see a new face of Julia. An environmentally conscious Julia makes compost, uses reusable bags instead of plastic or paper bags, and tries to be responsible in almost everything.

Julia told Oprah that she does not use deodorant. It has never been her habit. It is not due to environmental reason, because there are many environmentally friendly and healthy options available.

I am like Julia, I almost never use deodorant. I do not see the reason and I prefer to wash the area is if I feel smelly. I do use deodorant sometimes, especially in warm weather. I live in the Northeast United States, so warm weather is not as common as I would like.

Bobby Brown nude collection for summer

I do not use a lot of makeup in summer as most people do. Makeup in summer is a lot lighter than in the rest of the year. I found the new Bobby Brown nude collection refreshing and very wearable, although sometimes I prefer more color.

Baby doll YSL miniatures

One of my favorite perfumes is Babydoll by YSL. Browsing their website, I found that they have a limited edition of the miniature versions of the perfume. I love fragrance bottles and I found this miniature irresistible.

No regrets

The movie La vie en rose show cases the life of the late Edith Piaf. Edith was the most famous singer of France and a cultural icon in her time. Among her most famous songs is "Non Je Ne Regrette Rien."

Below you can see the lyrics in both French and English (I got the English translation from the internet and it is not official). I hope you enjoy the song that evokes a romantic Paris very different that the diverse city it is today.

French original
on Je Ne Regrette Rien

Non, Rien De Rien, Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien
Ni Le Bien Qu`on M`a Fait, Ni Le Mal
Tout Ca M`est Bien Egal
Non, Rien De Rien, Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien
C`est Paye, Balaye, Oublie, Je Me Fous Du Passe

Avec Mes Souvenirs J`ai Allume Le Feu
Mes Shagrins, Mes Plaisirs,
Je N`ai Plus Besoin D`eux
Balaye Les Amours Avec Leurs Tremolos
Balaye Pour Toujours
Je Reparas A Zero

Non, Rien De Rien, Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien
Ni Le Bien Qu`on M`a Fait, Ni Le Mal
Tout Ca M`est Bien Egal
Non, Rien De Rien, Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien
Car Ma Vie, Car Me Joies
Aujourd`hui Ca Commence Avec Toi

Non Je Ne Regrette Rien

English translation
No, nothing at all, I regret nothing at all
Not the good, nor the bad. It is all the same.
No, nothing at all, I have no regrets about anything.
It is paid, wiped away, forgotten.
I am not concerned with the past, with my memories.
I set fire to my pains and pleasures,
I don't need them anymore.
I have wiped away my loves, and my troubles.
Swept them all away.
I am starting again from zero.

No, nothing at all, I have no regrets
Because from today, my life, my happiness, everything,
Starts with you!

Tips to eat healthier and lose weight without a diet

Try to eat until you are 80% full. According to studies, the stomach takes a long time to send signals to the brain telling that there is no need to continue eating. So if you eat after you are 80% full, you will be overeating. You can always eat something later on if you are hungry.

Avoid drinking too much liquid during your meals. Your digestion will be easier if you take only limited fluids. Specially, avoid sodas and sweet drinks. If you drink a lot of fluids before and during your meal, you will feel less hungry, and your stomach will not be able to properly decide if it is full.

Eat in a relaxing environment. According to studies when people eat while listening to loud music, they eat more. Needless to say avoid watching television while eating.

Avoid the orange color in the place you eat. According to studies certain colors make us eat more and orange is the worst culprit. For this reason in the past some fast food chains chose orange in the decoration.

Sit down to eat. If you eat while standing up or in a distracting environment, you may eat more. It is a good habit to always sit to eat, even a fruit. While it is not the American culture, but it is a good habit to have. In Japan, the worst faux-pas that you can commit is to eat while walking down the street as we often do.

Always chew your food well. This will help to slow down the pace, you will eat less and have a better digestion because your teeth have done some of the work that the stomach may be forced to do.

According to studies if you eat in the company of people who eat a lot you will eat more than you would if you will be alone or in company of people who have a healthy lifestyle.

Use small plates and serve small amounts. You can always get more later. We learned that "eat everything on your place" when we were children, so if we put more food on the plate, we tend to eat it even thought we may not really want it.

Hello Kitty bath bombs

I love Hello Kitty and I learned to love her more while I lived in Tokyo. In Tokyo there are tons of products with this character. One cute product launched a few years ago for limited time is back: Hello Kitty kigurimi bath soaps.

I am calling them bath bombs because they resemble our bath bombs (the balls that we put in the bath and dissolve to create bubbles), but these ones are soap. Once the soap is dissolved, a toy contained in the center of the ball is revealed. The toy is Hello Kitty dressed as kigurimi (in English that means wearing a costume).

The soap smells of roses.
