Dresses for Michelle Obama

Apparently many designers are excited about the arrival of Michelle Obama to the White House. I am thinking they see her as an ambassador of glamour and good taste, they want another Jackie Kennedy.

Many designers answered the call of WWD to present their sketches with dresses for Michelle for the presidential inauguration ball. According to WWD most designers participated. The pictures above are some of my favorites. My least favorites were Betsy Johnson and Christian Lacroix. Lacroix’s dress looks like more for a sorceress in a Harry Potter movie than for the presidential ball.

I think Laura Bush is probably one of the prettiest first ladies ever, but she did not look glamorous. Politics apart I think Michelle is more promising in the fashion arena. What do you think?
