Tips to eat healthier and lose weight without a diet

Try to eat until you are 80% full. According to studies, the stomach takes a long time to send signals to the brain telling that there is no need to continue eating. So if you eat after you are 80% full, you will be overeating. You can always eat something later on if you are hungry.

Avoid drinking too much liquid during your meals. Your digestion will be easier if you take only limited fluids. Specially, avoid sodas and sweet drinks. If you drink a lot of fluids before and during your meal, you will feel less hungry, and your stomach will not be able to properly decide if it is full.

Eat in a relaxing environment. According to studies when people eat while listening to loud music, they eat more. Needless to say avoid watching television while eating.

Avoid the orange color in the place you eat. According to studies certain colors make us eat more and orange is the worst culprit. For this reason in the past some fast food chains chose orange in the decoration.

Sit down to eat. If you eat while standing up or in a distracting environment, you may eat more. It is a good habit to always sit to eat, even a fruit. While it is not the American culture, but it is a good habit to have. In Japan, the worst faux-pas that you can commit is to eat while walking down the street as we often do.

Always chew your food well. This will help to slow down the pace, you will eat less and have a better digestion because your teeth have done some of the work that the stomach may be forced to do.

According to studies if you eat in the company of people who eat a lot you will eat more than you would if you will be alone or in company of people who have a healthy lifestyle.

Use small plates and serve small amounts. You can always get more later. We learned that "eat everything on your place" when we were children, so if we put more food on the plate, we tend to eat it even thought we may not really want it.
